Project Co-ordination: find out all about this new local project

Local Clonmore woman, Roisin McAliskey has been appointed as Project \co-ordinator for “Clonmore Though the Years” and commenced work at the beginning of January. Roisin continues:

“I grew up in Clonmore and have been part of the three key areas of study for the project– Clintyclay Primary School, the Sacred Heart Church and Clonmore Robert Emmet’s GFC – from childhood to adult life.

Having recently built in the locality and started a family here, I hope that my children will too grow up as active members of the three institutions covered in the project and become part of the future history of Clonmore. I would encourage everyone to become involved so that their personal and family history can be included in the publications”

Your role

As a current or previous member of the school, chapel, club or general community in Clonmore, we would ask that you become proactively involved in the project. There are a number of ways in which that could be possible:

•    Participating in the one-to-one interviews based on the Church, School or Football Club
•    Providing a written or recorded statement about either or all of those three areas
•    Identifying key people to be interviewed or to be asked for information
•    Offering any background information, facts, stories, materials or signposting to useful organisations, people, documents that should be considered for the project
•    Lending photographs or video footage to be copied for use in the publication or DVD presentation
•    Becoming part of the volunteer team to carry out research, undertake training or assist in the organisation of the celebration event
•    Identifying places where the exhibition should be showcased or copies of the Book and DVD should be housed

How can you become involved?

Public Meeting/Coffee Morning

A coffee morning will be held on Sunday February 7th at 11.15m in Clonmore Hall to allow people the opportunity to put their names forward for interview or volunteer work, to identify key people and information to be included and to allow people the opportunity to share materials, video footage and photos to be included and for general discussion and input into the project.

Providing photos/materials/information Submission form

Submission packs will be distributed through the school, club and chapel over the coming weeks - place in the A4 envelope provided any photos/DVD videos/any other information you would like to have included in the publication. It would be helpful if names and dates could be provided for the photos & videos so specific references can be made to these.

There would be particular interest in photos that include:

Sacred Heart Church – baptisms, First Communions, weddings, special events
Robert Emmet GFC – team photos, club events/dances/parties, photos of supporters, Scór photos (also old match reports/programmes/tickets)
Clintyclay PS – class photos, school plays, sports days, féis, former teachers/staff, first day at school photos.

Also of interest would be any newspaper clippings about anything related to Clonmore

Labels on the envelopes detailing your contact information should be completed before submission and once materials have been copied they will be returned. Arrangements can be made to collect these envelopes by calling 07746 727242 or they will be collected at the Coffee Morning on Sunday February 7th at 11.15am in Clonmore Hall.
