Clonmore Naomh Labhaoise had two games during the week. The U16’s had St Peters of Lurgan as the visitors to Robert Emmet Park.
This ended up to be a very enjoyable game played with great spirit from both sides. The game was nip and tuck all the way with sound performances from Lauren Foy in Goals and especially Shauna Fanthorpe & Emma Molloy in defence. With Five minutes to go the game was level. Unfortunately due to injury Shauna had to leave the field and in her absence St Peters finished the stronger with 3 late scores. All in all a great performance from all the girls.
On Thursday evening, due to the inclement weather the minor game due to played in Mullabrack was switched to Clonmore. Mullabrack, accompanied by their Ballyhegan players who have been transferred in proved to be very formidable opposition on a very cold wintry evening. On this performance they will be very hard to stop in this league. With eight U16s playing, in an 11 aside game, the game itself was a fairly one sided affair, with the more mobile Mullabrack team covering the open spaces of the field better. On a very disappointing evening for the girls as regards performance, there were many encouraging things and especially the turnout of over 20 players ready to take the field. Well done to all of you for turning out on a very cold evening.
There are no matches this week as the Minor Championship is on Thursday Night and we have a bye in the first round. Next matches are U16 v Keady (away)18/05/09 & Minors Championship ¼ Final on 02/07/09 (no opposition confirmed yet).
Best of Luck to minors Hannah Mc Gilly & Charlene Hughes as they head to Lourdes to help out for a very worthwhile cause. Fundraiser is ongoing at present with Guess the score, which is to help with raising monies for the new development and specific ladies requirements. Please see Mary or James for sponsor sheets.
