Naomh Labhaoise Cluain Mhor travelled to meet the local Davitts at Ballyhegan on Monday Evening in the u16 League.
With the Clonmore girls sitting mid table in the Division meeting one of the leaders, the clonmore girls knew they were going to be up against it. The Match was capably referred by North board Ref Ciaran Conlan who kept the game flowing throughout which lead to a very enjoyable match. From the beginning Naomh labhaoise took the game to the opposition and with fine defensive displays from Orla Casey,Lauren Dynes and full back Shauna Fanthorpe, there wasn’t a lot getting through for scores. Half time score left Clonmore 5 points up. The second half proved to be very enjoyable full hearted match for all the spectators. Ballyhegan clawed their way back into contention with only 3 points separating the two teams. The long probing runs of Sarah o Hagan,Rebecca Mc Geary and Eve Lavery secured vital scores throughout the game with the later confidently putting a penalty away and half forward Orla Mc Geary scoring a fine left footed goal. The match as a contest faded out in the last 5 minutes with the Clonmore defence frustrating the Davitts attack on many occasions. The management would like to thank all the girls for a great effort throughout and especially all the debutants such as Bronagh Gribben,Grainne Kearney,Suzzanne Mc Quaid and Rachel Pearson who all had full games.
