Naomh Labhaoise Minors faced the might of Clann Eireann again this week in the semi final of the minor championship.
The teams have got so used to playing each other recently and it is a testament to the Clonmore girls for reaching the final stages of this competition competing with the best .The girls had prepared well for the match and certainly the final result didn’t reflect the amount of possession they had during the game.Naomh labhaoise unfortunately came out again on the wrong side of the result but in no way should feel downhearted as each and every-one give it their all. Clonmore started the brighter and for the first 8 minutes there was no score with both teams defending well.Clann Eireann then got into their usual rhythm and took both their goal and point chances well, leaving the Clonmore girls a major battle in the second half. The second half saw the girls come out with real fighting spirit and scored 3 fine points in as many minutes. However the experience of the lurgan side told in the end and they ran out easy winners. After 2 years in existence no-one bar ourselves expected to be at this stage of the competition, so well done to all concerned for getting there and we will certainly have learned from this experience and there will be better days ahead. With two thirds of this minor team actually u14 this year, it reflects the talent there is in the Club for the future. Many thanks to all the support who turned out for the game. Many thanks again to Kieran Mc keever and Ballyhegan for the field and very competent officialling.Credit also to Christine Hagan & Clann Eireann for a sporting game.
