Clonmore continued to stretch their successful season when they traveled to Crossmaglen on Sunday to play Donegal side Convoy in the clubs first ever venture into Ulster Club football.

The Donegal men had a strong wind advantage in the first half and used it to pump long balls into their forwards putting pressure on the Clonmore defense. Convoy registered the first score after 3 minutes but Brendan Donaghy replied soon after with a converted free. Convoy edged in front as a 50 metre free sailed over, wind assisted and added another soon after from play. Clonmore now had to work extremely hard, and it was noticeable that many forwards had to come deep to help defend. Chris Convie and Shane McGeown winning a lot of possession. D.McGeown came off best in several one on one situations and Joe Donaghy and Gary Nugent battled to get the ball moved out. James Grimley pulled the score level in the 18th minute with 2 frees however Clonmore lost Tony McGeown soon after with a bad arm injury and had to be replaced by Jack Smyth. Convoy then scored from play but the Emmets missed several chances to level with a number of wides against the breeze. James Grimley however did manage a point from a close in free to level. Clonmore worked hard to win possession but too often gave it away with stray passes which Convoy punished. Another score apiece from frees saw the teams level on 5 points each.

Clonmores hope for the second half was to make best use of the wind advantage and pushed forward early but hit a number of early wides. James Grimley opened with a point from play, then a good combination by Raymie McBennett and Jack Smyth put Jack through for a well taken point. The game was stalemate for the next 10 minutes as both sides made handling errors and hit wides. Convoy reduced the deficit to the minimum but were then were dealt a blow as they lost 2 key players within minutes of each other. Clonmore now saw a window of opportunity and raised their game as Convoy heads dropped. A point from Paul McNamee and 2 from Brendan Donaghy with only 1 reply put 3 between the sides. Shane McGeown had a goal attempt deflected out for a 45. Two more long range efforts from Brendan Donaghy found the target as did one each from James Grimley and Raymond Convie. Convoy converted a free on the stroke of the hour but it was to be Clonmore's day, as their good fortune continued and they moved forward in the competition. This was a real team performance to earn the win with everyone putting in a determined effort for the pride of the jersey.
Final score; Clúain Mór Roibeard Eiméid 0.14,  Convoy Naomh Mhuire 0.8
