Clonmore continued their form on Sunday last when the travelled to Middletown. The Emmets got off to a dream start, a Chris convie pass across the face of the Middletown goal found Paul McNamee who finished to the net with the game 2 minutes old. Clonmore playing with a strong breeze took full advantage with points from Brendan Donaghy, James Grimley and Stephen Donaghy. John Grimley pulled off good save the ball then travelled down field it was finished by his brother James to the net putting Clonmore 9 points up with just 7 minutes played. Middletown opened their account with a point and soon after scored a well manoeuvred goal. The sides then exchanged points, scoring 6 each before half time. Clonmore points came from the boots of Jack Smyth, Stephen Donaghy and 4 from James Grimley. Half time score; Middletown 1.06, Clonmore 2.09

The second half saw The Emmets facing a stiff breeze. Middletown were first off the mark with a converted free, Chris Convie was rewarded for his excellent play with a point from play. The home side added 2 more points before Raymond McBennett at corner back started a move which ended with James Grimley striking again with another well taken goal adding a point from a free immediately after. Middletown never gave up the ghost and added another point. Chris Convie and Jack Smyth combined well and when a free was awarded Brendan Donaghy converted. James Grimley added another from a converted free soon after. At the other end some great one on one defending from Joe Donaghy and Dominic McGeown kept the stripes at bay but there was little anyone could do when a long lobbed ball looked to be heading wide only to drop wind assisted into the net. Brendan Donaghy had the last say for Clonmore with a point from play. Final score Middletown 2.11, Roibeard Eiméid Cluian Mór 3.15

Another 2 points on the board and the early lead stood the Clonmore. A great team effort a lot of hard graft coming from those who didn’t get on the score sheet like Raymond Convie, James Fox, Raymond McBennett, Joe Donaghy & D. MGeown also a sterling display again from Tony McGeown.

Another big game on Sunday as Clonmore are at home to Port Mór.

The Club are holding a big Barbque night on Friday 7th July. There will be special admission price for families and promises to be a great nights entertainment.

Well done to all at Clintyclay school who put on a fine performance of their school play last week and filled the hall for two nights shows.

This week they got a great reward by winning an Irish News trip to Croke Park. Many thanks to all those in the Club who collected the entry tokens for the competition.
