Clonmore played host to mid Armagh side Madden on Sunday and with two points edged closer to securing the chance of reaching the promotion play offs. The visitors were first to register on the scoreboard with appoint from play 2 minutes in. Clonmores first attack yielded a 3 pointer when a high ball in from captain Stephen Donaghy found James Grimley who gave the keeper no chance with a well struck goal. The Emmets added a point a minute with 2 from Brendan Donaghy and 1 from Grimley. Madden converted a free in reply but Clonmore, playing with great confidence and team effort hit 3 more – a conversion from Brendan Donaghy, a well taken point from Ciaran Beagan and a great run from corner back Gary Nugent to register a rare score. The visitors reply again was a converted free while at the other end their keeper did well to stop a goal bound effort from Chris Convie. Raymond McBennett, set up by Tony McGeown finished well with a fisted point. Madden added 2 points, 1 from a free. James Fox had point with the assistance of the upright, while James Grimley hit another from play. Madden hit 2 points to leave the score at the break Clonmore 1.09, Madden 0.07

On the restart Ciaran Beagan was first off for the Emmets with a point from play. Heavy rain prevented both teams from developing any flowing play and it was almost 15 minutes before the next score, that was a goal effort from Madden paried over the bar by John Grimley, who was called upon several times to make crucial interceptions. Dominic McGeown almost made it a corner back double, his shot only just dropping short. James Grimley and Brendan Donaghy pointed for Clonmore while Madden finished strongly adding 3 points. However Grimley kept the Emmets in command adding a further point. In the dying minutes The Rapparees were awarded a penalty but John Grimley rounded off a great day between the posts by making the save. A sound team effort, as well as all of the above, scores were made possible from the hard work of others, Chris and Raymond Convie, Paul McNamee and Aidan Daly worthy of a mention

Final score Clonmore 1.13, Madden 0.11
