Clonmore entertained Lissummon on Sunday for what was the first home game of the season.
James Grimley got the Emmets off to a good start with a point in the first minute. For the best part of the first half the game ebbed and flowed with both sides exchanging points Clonmore were alert defensively with good performances from Joe Donaghy and Tony McGeown, scores were contributed by James Grimley, Stephen Donaghy, Dominic McGeown and 2 from Brendan Donaghy to leave scores at 6 points to 4 with almost 30 minutes played. Good fielding from Tony McGeown and a pinpoint pass set up Raymond Convie who finished to the net. The visitors responded with a point however from the kick out good work started by Thomas Donaghy was finished off by Raymond McBennett on the end of a loose ball into the Lissummon goal. James Grimley added the last score of the half with a converted free to leave half time score; Clonmore 2.7 Lissummon 0.5
The Emmets continued to dominate into the second half. A fine point from Chris Convie and another from Brendan Donaghy. Clonmore were also back to defend in numbers with effective clearances from Dominic and Tony McGeown and Joe and Stephen Donaghy. John Grimley also pulled off a great save to deny Lissummon. The visitors converted a free before Clonmore stretched their lead to 11 with points from B.Donaghy and 2 from J.Grimley. The visitors knocked over 2 points but Chris Convie replied again for the Emmets. With the game almost over Lissummon again added 2 points but it was James Grimley who would ensure a 10 point margin with a converted free just before the final whistle. No game on Sunday due to Easter, following Sunday Clonmore travel to Crossmaglen to take on the seconds. All travelling support is greatly appreciated.
