Clonmore played their last normal league game of the season on Sunday with Craigavons Éire Óg as visitors. With the Ógs battling for survival in division 3 this was a game they needed ensuring a tough encounter would prevail.
Clonmore opened the scoring with an early point from Raymond McBennett but while Éire Óg had a goal chance cleared off the line by James Fox, it was the home side who kept the pressure on taking a good lead with points from Chris Convie and James Grimley, before a high hanging ball from Grimley was spilled into the net by the Óg defence. Éire Óg registered their first point when a shot on goal was paried over by Stephen Grimley in the Clonmore goal. There was little he could do however when a defensive error set up the visitors to claim a three pointer. From the kick out Chris Convie timed a run perfectly to collect a pass, pick his spot and beat the keeper with a well taken goal. The two Raymonds - McBennett and Convie added points apiece before an Éire Óg goal on the stroke of half time left the score; Clonmore 2.05, Éire Óg 2.01

On the resumption the Craigavon men hit 2 early points to bring them within a single score of Clonmore, but that was to be as near as they would come, The Emmets surged ahead with points from Chris Convie, Tony McGeown and Ciaran Beagan. The visitors pulled back 2 points before Jack Smyth, well set up by Ruairi Cunningham, pinned them back with Clonmores third goal. Éire Óg rallied during the last 10 minutes putting the Emmets defence under increasing pressure and knocking over 3 unanswered points, but it was too little too late as Clonmore collected their final two league points of the year.
Final score Cluain Mór 3.09, Éire Óg 2.08

It doesn’t end there though, Clonmore now eagerly await to hear who they will meet in the playoff semi final as we challenge for promotion to play in Division 2 next season.
