The Annual Dinner and Presentation night took place last Saturday night and proved to be a huge success thanks to hard work and good organising by a small number of members.
For the first time ever at a Clonmore dinner, a rather large table was required to display all the trophies and cups present. We were honoured with special guests Armagh County captain Paul McGrane, All Ireland ladies winner Caoimhe Marley and County Chairman, Joe Jordan, apologies were conveyed on behalf of Dungannon Mayor who had a previous engagement. As well as the various Cups brought along by these County representatives, Clonmore had four of their own to celebrate. Armagh Junior Championship, ACL Division 4, Armagh Club of the Year and the Cathal McCann Cup.
On the night, the event was greatly enhanced by the overhead presentation put together by Anthony Clearn who spent many hours putting the whole thing all together and a commemorative booklet produced by Dominic Molloy. Special presentations were made to manager Joe Mallon and Physio Marcella Molloy. These two along with Club chairman James McBennett were also presented with gifts from the players as a token of their appreciation of the work the three put in over the year to ensure the success of the team.
Joe Jordan presented Championship and league winners medals to players and after a slight hiccup by yours truly D.McGeown also got his, apologies D. Joe also presented the Club of the Year award to Club President John Clearn. Player of the Year was next and as James McBennett explained as the management found it virtually impossible to separate a number of players it was decided to award 3 players the recognition. Paul McGrane presented Brendan Donaghy, James Grimley and Stephen Donaghy with a beautiful trophy each. Club Person of the Year went to Anthony Clearn. Anthony has brought publicity of the club to a new level, developing and managing the club website, making it the envy of many. He also put a huge amount of work to ensure the dinner presentation went according to plan, so well done and well deserved. Joe Mallon went home a happy man as he is off to Donegal for a weekend, courtesy of Ciaran Beagan. Congratulations indeed to all those who collected awards and many thanks to everyone who made it a very successful night.
Back to porridge then as preparations begin for the year ahead, training continues Tuesday & Friday at 7.30pm and Sunday as arranged.
Best wishes go to Clubmen Nishi Farmer and Mickey Tierney who were noticeably absent on Saturday night due to illness, get well soon. |
