With the sun splitting the trees Sherry’s Field was the venue for Sunday’s game against Tullysarran.
The team were strengthened by the return of Joe Donaghy and also James Donaghy. The flip side of this was the absence of county players John Grimley and Brendan Donaghy. John Dynes got into the action early before Tullysarran hit a wide. A clever pass from Tony to Stephen was lost to their defence. Brian Donaghy was playing well from the word go and duly won a free. Joe Donaghy lofted a ball from the half forward line into the square, the bounce in front goal was punched over the bar for a point by Stephen. Gary swept up a loose ball which was cleared by Joe Donaghy. Paul Hamill got the ball out to Raymie and James Grimley’s pass back to Paul saw him in space in front of goal, his shot was blocked by the keeper but the rebound was netted with only four minutes gone. Clonmore gave the ball away but D McGeown defended well again possession was given away. Tullysarran hit there first point on eleven minutes. Joe and Raymie got the ball into Paul but he was swamped by O’Connells, who won a free out. At the other end Stephen caught a dropping ball and won a free out. Good tackling from Raymie and a great block by D weren’t built on as again Clonmore gave the ball away. Brian and Tony were putting in the effort and won a hop ball. Ruarí got the ball to Raymie whose free kick after some good play finally saw Tony point on seventeen minutes. Three Tullysarran points followed in three minutes. The first a converted free the last a rebound from the post, not followed up by the Clonmore backs. Joe and James Fox in the middle were breaking lots of ball. Paul Hamill was subbed for Ciaran Beagan. D won a free which ended up just wide. Tullysarran replied with a free. After a wide they found themselves in front of goal with lots of space but took the safety of a point. Ruarí put a good ball into the forward line which saw a well taken score by Paul McNamee. The half ended with a Tullysarran point to leave the score 1-3 to 0-7.

John Dynes won a free before Tullysarran got two more points. Gary, Ciaran and James Fox were keeping order in the backline with D winning a free. Stephen put in a good block and again D was involved in play before possession was given away. Stephen Grimley saved a shot from a tight angle and the rebounded ball ran along the line and D was after it and recovered it in the corner, well done. After lots of good passing James Grimley pointed, and made it look easy. James Fox sent a good ball into Paul McNamee who hooked over a point on the turn, with twelve minutes gone. D fielded a ball and after more good passing Brian and Stephen both still grafting hard won frees. John Dynes was showing well in defence as was Tony and winning breaking ball. Gerard Molloy came in for Ruarí. Tullysarran hit three wides before pointing with 2 minutes of ordinary time to go. Stephen got the ball on the half way line and made a beeline for the goals he was brought down and Raymie converted the free as time was up.
