Clonmore battled till the end against a spirited Lissummon team to come away with a four point win. Lissummon, already relagated, no pressure contained Clonmore well and bar some excellent long range points from John Grimley in the latter stages, were unlucky not to take something from the game. An excellent team performance with Brendan Donaghy and Ruairi Cunningham and Raymie McBennett to the fore. Daniel Mullan scored a great point from a sideline kick in the 1st half and James Grimley got a first half goal. Lissummon with a gutsy performance like this wont remain in Div 4 too long. A special day too for young Cathal Cunningham who made his senior debut, maith thu.

Naomh Eoin play Sarsfields in the next round of the minor championship.

Please collect the Irish News tokens and hand them into any committee member.

Congratulations to Catherine and James McBennett on the birth of their baby daughter.

With the financial support of the Heritage Lottery Fund, Clonmore Regeneration Group (CRG) are pleased to announce their latest project ‘Clonmore through the Years’.

Over the next 12 Months CRG will endeavour to capture the history of the three main focal points within this small hamlet and archive them using written, pictorial and oral formats.

These focal points are Sacred Heart Church, Clintyclay Primary School and Clonmore GFC.

Other areas of interest include the local railway station, the Clonmore shrine, the cross community graveyard at Mullinakill, the Argory and Bonds Bridge.  The project will also explore the impact of the surrounding areas of Clintyclay, Copney, Derrymagowan, Canary, Derrycaw, Derryhubbert, Tamnamore, Derrygalley and Tullyroan and examine how many people visited the Clonmore area for educational, sporting, religious, employment and social reasons.

Speaking on behalf of CRG,James Mc Bennett, applicant to the HLF comments,

‘CRG warmly invites you to become involved in the project by sharing your memories, experiences and artefacts.  If you are a past pupil, teacher, minister/priest, footballer, supporter, manager or native of Clonmore and the surrounding areas and have a story to tell, or would like to contribute old photos, press clippings, video or oral archives, we would like to hear from you’.

CRG is hosting an open meeting at Clonmore Hall at 8.00pm on Tuesday 6th October to discuss the format and timescales of the project and the proposed activities. Everyone is welcome and interested parties will be encouraged to add their name to our volunteer database.  For further information you can contact Eithne on 028... or James on 07... or follow the updates on www.clonmore.com
