Clonmore Seniors played in the Championship on Sunday evening at Mullabrack.
The team were weakened due to injury to two influential players. Things did not get off to a great start as Belleek scored a goal from a high ball into the square which was fisted to the net. Clonmore were slow to settle and with the cross field win making shooting difficult scoreswere hard to come by. Clonmore did settle and clawed their way into the game to go in at half time a point down.
Thesecond half started the same way as the first with a Belleek Goal. Clonmore tried hard and there was a period of hope when after a great catch by Brendan Donaghy on the 14 yard line he was dragged to the ground for a penalty which John Grimley scored. However Belleek held on to win by two points. This was a very disappointing game which was riddled with mistakes from both sides and Clonmore will need to put it behind them and concentrate on the final games of the league. This Sunday sees the annual sports day take place at 2.30pm, this is usually a great day with lots of fun, this year we will have the usual, bouncy castles and novelty races, penalty kick, tug o war bike races and burger stall. Any one that would like to assist in the preparation should call at the Club on Saturday. Please also note that the development draw takes place on Sunday evening and all members are asked to put in a big push over the last few days.
