24th March 2008

Challenge matches continue, thanks to the teams who have facilitated these. The first match of the league away to Belleek on the 6th April at 2.00, a fixture list is online and in the hall. Good turnouts continue at training sessions which is encouraging. Well done and good luck to the Academy team, players and management, 2008 Hogan cup finalists. Robert Emmet and Naomh Eoin players John Grimley and Ruairi Cunningham are part of this academy team. Tyrone times match report

A committee meeting was held on Tuesday 25th to discuss fundraising and for those present to hear about the current state of the plans for the development. Alot of work has gone into this project and it is ongoing.

As ever in the club the big issue is money, there are several fundraising events in the pipeline for this year which hopefully will bring everyone together for some fun and raise more money to realise the first concrete stage of the development, which will be changing rooms. To run a club such as Clonmore takes around £15, 000 per year and this is before considering a penny for development of facilities. From the outside it may seem as if little or no progress is being made, but the committee are working as hard as ever to provide for sport in the Clonmore Robert Emmet club.

The community's support for the weekly lotto, the monthly quiz and for the team is appreciated, both of these are vital for the running of the club. The next planned big event in the hall this year is a night at the races on Saturday 28th June. A community weekend will take place 6th / 7th September. On the 2nd August there will be a sponsored coast to coast cycle from Warrenpoint to Ballyshannon everyone is welcome to join in. So please pencil these into your diary. One more idea to raise cash is to please collect your coppers; 1pennies, 2pennies etc., bag them and put them in the jar in the hall.
