23rd April 2008

The postponed match of Clonmore v Grange was played on Wednesday evening. With the good weather holding, the ball was thrown in at 7.30.

An unusual midfield pairing of John Grimley and Brendan Donaghy worked very well. Straight away John Grimley got the first score. Points followed from Brendan Donaghy, John Grimley and James Fox. James Grimley hit the net on eight minutes. John Grimley knocked over two points, James Grimley one as did Raymond Convie who added a goal one minute later. Paul McNamee put his name on the score sheet with a point and John Grimley finished the half with a brace. If Clonmore were good in the opponents half of the field they were equally as good in their own half. Joe Donaghy, D McGeown and Gerard Molloy in nets were in solid form in the backs to help hold the Grange to just one point.

2-10 , 0-1.

The first ten minutes of the second half saw Grange hit 5 points with Clonmore just one, Brendan Donaghy goaled on 11 minutes. Gerard Molloy saved a penalty but couldn’t do the same for a rebound. Paul Hamill came on for Paul McNamee. Both sides added two more points with Clonmore’s coming from Raymond Convie and Stephen Donaghy. Cathal Cullen was a late sub for Raymond McBennett.

Final score 3-13 1-8
