Clonmore travelled the short distance to Na Piarsaigh Eanach Mór for the fourth match of 2008.
Clonmore opened the scoring with John Grimley attacking from mid field, Raymond Mc Bennett followed with a point. Eoin Cullen blocked a shot at goal and fielded a high ball bound for a point. D McGeown got in a text book block and also fielded well at corner back. Annaghmore converted a free on twelve minutes. Paul McNamee, Brian Donaghy and James Fox were involved with much of the play around the middle of the park. Pressure from Joe Donaghy made scoring difficult for the reds. Raymond Convie, Raymond McBennett and Brendan Donaghy pointed. Annaghmore players attacked to have a crack at goal. The shot hit the crossbar and despite the backs attempts to close play down they managed a point. James Grimley was in a good position in front of goal and was unlucky to hit a wide. Annaghmore converted two frees in two minutes at the end of normal time. A mistake handed the ball to Annaghmore and they put the ball over the bar two minutes into injury time. Three Annaghmore players leaked through the backline and had just the keeper to beat but the shot was well saved by Eoin Cullen. Half time score 0-5, 0-5. With the sun continuing to shine and the temperature in the mid teens it was fine day for the game. Annaghmore scored first then Ruairi Cunningham at half forward pointed. Both sides then converted frees. John Grimley was back in defense to good effect and at the other end Clonmore hit three wides before Annaghmore pointed. Paul Hamill came in for Paul McNamee on 47 minutes. Brendan Donaghy continued to do well in the centre of the field with John Dynes making his mark on the back line. Two points each followed with Clonmore’s coming from Raymond McBennett and James Grimley. An Annaghmore 45m went loose in the square and an Annaghmore player blasted at goal but yet again the keeper came to the rescue with a great save. On the attack came James Fox and Stephen Donaghy who passed to Paul Hamill moving in on goal. With the keeper coming out he did well to put it past him with one minute of normal time to go, and it raised a great cheer from the travelling support. A Brendan Donaghy pass missed everyone and bounced over the bar, when it’s going right everything goes right. Tony McGeown won a late free and the home side converted a free in injury time. Final score 0-11, 1-10.
