On what turned into a rainy Friday evening Clonmore hosted St.Peters in a match moved forward from Sunday. Unfortunately Brendan Donaghy suffered a broken thumb in a Thursday night training session, we hope he makes a full and speedy recovery.

St Peters got off to the better start with two early points. D McGeown and Paul McNamee both blocked another two shots. Joe Donaghy did well during the game at full back. Paul Hamill showed well through out the game and upfront Raymond Convie did well despite the close attention of their backs. Raymie McBennett popped over our first point on 10 minutes. A well worked move went narrowly wide to hit the side of the net. Shortly after Brian Donaghy set up Tony McGeown for a well taken long range point. James Fox was at the centre of a move which let Raymie McBennett put away a fine goal on 15 minutes. Eoin Cullen continued his successful return in the sticks. The Peters followed with two points and Raymond Convie won a free which was converted to leave it 1-3 to 0-4.

Peters converted a free soon after the throw in followed by another three within 10 minutes. The wet conditions made handling difficult at times with some good possession lost on several occasions. Raymie McBennett hit a wide off the post from a narrow angle. Marty Convie came in for Paul McNamee who put in a strong first half performance. James Grimley made the hard yards winning two frees before his brother John pointed. What looked to Clonmore supporters as a free wasn't given and the ball was swiftly moved down the field, despite a half block by Tony McGeown Clonmore's net was rattled. Thomas Donaghy came on for Paul Hamill. A Raymond Convie point came with 10 minutes to go and four points in it. James Fox hit the post from long range. John Dynes did well at corner back, like father like son as this was Gerard's position for Clonmore. Stephen Donaghy won a 45, from it Tony McGeown finished with a point off the post. Raymie McBennett put in a jinking run ending with a well taken point. The visitors converted a point with two minutes of ordinary time to go. Clonmore's forward line continued to receive close attention yet Raymie McBennett made a good run goal ward, he had an option on but was well entitled to have a shot, it fell short and was cleared off the line. Had it been earlier in the game it may well have been a goal but it was a big ask to save the day such as it was. It ended then with St.Peters 1-9 to Clonmore 1-7.

Please continue to come along to support all our teams to further successes.

The final quiz of the season was held last Friday, thanks to all those who attended and to Oliver for the questions. Maurice O'Neill was the winner of the sweepstake from the previous quiz.

Training for the sponsored cycle will need to begin now. If you haven't registered your interest yet please do so now. Remember it won't be a race and will be well within anyone's undertaking. At about 120 miles it should take around 12 hours. There will be a support team to keep things rolling and if you would like to help in this way please get in touch.
