1st June 2008

The matches due to have been played over the past two Sundays have been postponed and the break was good for everyone involved. With the commitment levels both on and off the field sometimes perhaps we can lose sight of the fact that the games are about enjoyment. Anyone looking to travel to Breffni Park by bus should contact Oliver Donaghy by Monday 9th June.

Following a trial of holding the lotto on a Tuesday night it will return to Monday night. Field tidy up Saturday 4pm everyone welcome to come along and give a hand.

Training continues for the sponsored C2C cycle with rides leaving the hall on Saturday and Sunday mornings at 7pm. Contact Anthony or Dominic if you interested or just come along. While 120 miles may be a lot to a non cyclist with some training it is perfectly achievable, this is not a race. An average speed of 12mph is reasonable and will mean 12 leisurely hours will cover the distance through some lovely parts of the country on what we hope will be a fine day. If we are to realise the building of changing rooms and better facilities for the Clonmore of the future then we need to pull out all the stops with respect to raising money. If anyone has a better idea then please bring it forward, of course it too will require an equal input to be a success.

This event is not a one off fundraiser, just one of a few which the committee felt would be worthwhile. The next big event on the list is a night at the races on Saturday 28th June at 8.30pm. The last time Clonmore ran this event the senior men took charge and made it a great success. This time the newly formed Naomh Labhaoise ladies team have come onboard to help out by jointly organising the night and collecting money. This is a positive sign of the willingness of the girls to help the club and changed times as the ladies no longer are there to make the tea and clean, good for them. Sponsor sheets are  out and time is short so please get out there and raise some money. Contact James McBennett or Mary O’Hagan or Dominic Molloy for further assistance.

The next stage of the development will be the cutting of the first sod which will be at 7.30pm on Friday 20th June. Followed by the start of the building work on the Saturday Hopefully we can all come together in the near future to celebrate the cutting of the ribbon to open the building, watch this space.

North Armagh Gaelic week 21 – 28 June 08. An exciting and forward-thinking new concept is in the final stages of planning. A working group established by the North Armagh Board has initiated the inception of GAELIC WEEK.  The week commencing 21st June will give all clubs in North Armagh  including Clonmore the opportunity to participate in a celebration of all things Gaelic, through various sporting and cultural events.
