Naomh labhaoise had their final league game of the season on Thursday night against a very experienced Harps team at Abbey park. With a lot of ladies away for various reasons,Naomh labhaoise fielded a very young team for minors with all the subs getting a run out.
As this was the final game of the season for both teams, it was played in a very sporting manner and well refereed by Harps officals. Both teams used it to try players in different positions and this led to a high scoring game with Harps experience in front of goal earning them the win on the night. The Clonmore ladies tried hard throughout the game and alike in previous games had adequate possession but conversion into scores with such a youthful attack was a problem. However,we all were aware that this year was going to be difficult as we were playing in a very experienced North league and had to meet last years u16 county champions Mullabawn in the championship. With this in mind the team never deterred from the challenge and valuable experience was gained by all, so fair play to all involved.
With over 50 girls now involved with the club, it is expected that next year, we will be fielding at 3 age groups u14,u16 and u18 so that all will be playing nearer their age group. In order to strengthen these groupings, the coaches will be holding a series of  varied events over the next few weeks and months for preparation for next year and to thank all for their efforts this year. More info later.
It is also expected that a few challenge games will be arranged and the u10 girls  will not be forgotten about either. These u10s have already played games against Moy and Ballyhegan and certainly the future looks bright.
The club would like to thank all the parents for their co-operation this year in helping out with transport, fundraising etc and would encourage those who want to help out next year to put their names forward to the committee. We would also encourage any new girls in the area to come forward and play next year. The structures next year are there so that all are playing in their correct age group and coaching will be taking place at all levels.
